The 800-year-old ancestral castle of the Princes zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn towers high above Sayn near Bendorf on the Rhine. Here, one can enjoy a magnificent, panoramic view of the heights of the Wester Forest above the Rhine Valley up to the volcanic mountains of the Eifel.
The castle can be reached either via a short footpath from the Garten der Schmetterlinge (10 min.) or via car via the L-306 to Bendorf-Stromberg. The castle grounds are freely accessible. Burg Sayn is a member of the Pearls of German Fortresses and Castles.
